Boat pilots and kayak guides are required to pass the annual exam on Marine Activities in the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park Regulations (MAR). Individuals who pass the exam can obtain or renew their certification and receive authorization to operate within the Marin Park under Article 11.1 of the regulation.

For the 2024 operational season, the training period will run from May 29 to June 20.

Who should attend in-person/on-site training?

• New pilot 2024 (never piloted in the marine park): training courses will be held in La Baie, Tadoussac and Rivière-du-Loup.
• New guide 2024 (has never guided in the Marine Park): training will take place in L’Anse-Saint-Jean and Tadoussac.
• Former pilot/guide who has missed a year of certification renewal (e.g.: guide/pilot who operated in the Marine Park until 2022, but not in 2023).
• Former pilot/guide who only took pre-registered training in 2023.

*** Former pilots and guides are welcome to attend one of the in-class sessions, as are naturalist-interpreters. The in-class session can replace the online renewal of the attestation***

Who can take the online renewal module?

Former pilot/guide operating in the marine park in 2023 who has completed instructor-led training or the renewal module in 2023.

Pilots : whale-watching tour captains and captain-naturalists, dive masters, fishing guides and sailboat instructors

Guides : sea kayak and paddleboard (SUP) guides.
