Hourly wage: $29.20 to $31.73 (salary currently under review)

Are you looking for an active role involving a variety of practical tasks, mainly outdoors? Join the Parks Canada team in Tadoussac and play a direct part in maintaining the site to ensure a safe, functional and welcoming environment for visitors. The incumbent will work as part of the asset management team, which consists of three attendants, a technician, and a manager.
The maintenance worker carries out various manual tasks related to the upkeep of buildings, grounds, trails and facilities. The role requires an independent and versatile individual who demonstrates good team spirit, pays close attention to health and safety at work, and is constantly mindful of the quality of the work carried out.
Process intent
- The purpose of this process is to staff a term position. The process may also be used to create a list of qualified candidates to fill similar positions with different employment statusessecurity levels, or language profiles, at the same site or elsewhere in the country.
Tasks
- The incumbent will perform general and semi-specialized maintenance, repair, and construction work on facilities, buildings, and grounds.
Working environment
- Parks Canada is a federal agency responsible for protecting and presenting Canada’s exceptional natural and cultural resources by managing a network of national parks, national marine conservation areas, and national historic sites across the country. The Saguenay–St. Lawrence Field Unit is responsible for the co-management of the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park, located along the Saguenay Fjord.

Language Requirements
- French essential
Education
A vocational diploma in construction, carpentry, or general building maintenance.
or
An acceptable combination of education, experience and training relevant to the position.
Experience
- Recent* and substantial** work experience in building and grounds maintenance.
- Experience in building renovation.
* Gained within the last five years
** Representing at least two years of work in tasks of similar complexity, as required

- Knowledge of the main building materials and their properties

Conditions of employment
- Obtain and maintain a reliability rating (security screening, including a criminal background check)
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Be able to lift weights of up to 45 kilograms and move about on all types of terrain
- Be able to perform work requiring sustained effort over long periods (workday), in environments and weather conditions that may be adverse or at heights
- Agree to wear a Parks Canada uniform and protective equipment
- Pass a pre-employment medical examination and periodic medical checkups in accordance with the Parks Canada Health Surveillance Program.
